Going back to to my design roots
My love for design goes back more than 40 years . I use to watch my mother create one of many of her beautiful classic suits or dresses from a piece of material.Watching her bring to life a two dimensional piece of material was like magic to me . I would watch my mom for hours cutting ,pinning and sewing her stunning creations. I soon learnt to sew a straight line keeping my fingers intact. No small feat at 8 years old. Skip ahead 12 years. I am married and living in town in a tiny Little house. Decided to create a fashion studio out of an alcove in our house intended for a dining room table. Hung a black curtain up to partition the tiny studio from the rest off the house . Had great fun designing . After a couple of months of sewing samples and a few local fashion shows I was ready for business. My customers loved the chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne and the intimate atmosphere .I delivered their custom made clothes to their homes. My in home fashion studio lasted a few years. Than I got pregnant with our beautiful daughter Natalie and we moved to the country. A little to out of the way for my in town clientele. In 1988 I opened up a little boutique in Markham where I sold established designer names and my own small collections. It was a lot of hard work but loved every moment of it...4 years later along came Sean ,our second baby who is now 19 and I decided to work from home........In 1993 I retired from designing and started buying and selling antiques. You can refer to North 44 Antiques blog. I am still buying and selling antiques but have missed designing . Over the years I have created unique , one of a kind aprons for friends as gifts. I have had a number of requests to design and sell some aprons .So I thought, why not.! I will be posting my new creations on my blog and Facebook for any one interested in taking a look
